What’s a story without a good twist? Nothing in my opinion. I enjoy a book (or movie) with a sudden twist you didn’t see coming. A book like…Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Any of them, actually. They have so many mysteries and turns you didn’t see coming. How do you write a book with a twist?
Often, you don’t plan it. The idea (or 💡 ) pops into your head when you least expect it and you put it in. Those are my favorite twists. The ones where even the author didn’t see it coming. When it pops into your head, it’s brilliant. Nothing else can come close to it. Maybe the main character dies. Maybe the good guy ends up being the villain.
Other times, you do plan it. It just depends on how it happens. How do you like twists?
