In my post Just The Beginning I told you that I falter at selling my books because I’m shy. Tonight, at a market days, I sold five pairs of An FBI Fox and A CIA Fox (together) at $15 dollars. Apart they were $10 dollars each. I was so surprised people were actually interested in The FBI Chronicles!
So, what’s my next step?
Hm…buying more copies and creating business cards with my website on them. I was very happy when I sold my first pair…then I was amazed when I sold my second pair…and the buyers just kept coming!
My advice to you is to get out of your comfort zone. Get out and talk about your books! Go on. Shoo! You’re books aren’t going to sell themselves.
You have to sell them. Yes, you. Not your publisher, not your editor, not your friends. You have to sell them. Yes, you can get help, but you are the writer, the author, the seller.
No one’s going to hear about your book unless you talk! It’s hard. I admit it. It’s hard. But, at the same time, it’s so fun. 🙂 You meet new people and get feedback. Valuable feedback!
So, what comfort zone do you have?
